China Visa Guide for German Citizens (2026)

German ordinary-passport holders are covered by China’s unilateral visa-free policy for stays of up to 30 days for tourism and other covered purposes. The policy is currently extended through December 31, 2026; confirm again before travel.

A Tourist Visa (L) is the usual category when a tourism visit requires a visa. Work, study, journalism and other activities use different categories even when a nationality has short-stay visa-free access.
